The Law before Mount SinaiThe Law before Mount Sinai from the Beginning

The Bible teaches that sin is breaking the law before Mount Sinai or any other time. It also says that Satan sinned from the beginning of the world. Furthermore, it goes on to say that where there is no law, there is no sin. (Romans 4:15) Therefore, if no law existed there could be no sin because there would be no law to break. In addition, no law means no one could be guilty of sin. Therefore, if Satan sinned from the beginning of the world, it makes sense that we have had the law of the Lord from the beginning.

The Law in the Kingdom of Heaven

The kingdom of heaven proves the existence of the law before Mount Sinai. The Bible tells us that in the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth, and all their hosts. (Genesis 1:1) Therefore, God completed His work, which He had done, and He rested from all His work, which He had done. (Genesis 2:1-3) Therefore, at the beginning of the world, His created and made works were finished. (Hebrews 4:3) Therefore, from the beginning, whatever things God made in heaven have been in heaven from the foundation of the world. Furthermore, after the creation period, there is no mention of God making anything new in Heaven. If it did this would contradict the creation account, which would make God a liar.

The Bible tells us about some of the things that God made or created in the beginning. First, there is the kingdom of heaven, which would have the law before Mount Sinai. (Matthew 25:34) Second, there is the temple of God. (Revelation 11:19) Third, there is the tabernacle of the testimony. (Revelation 15:5) Fourth, there is the ark of His covenant. (Revelation 11:19) Fifth, there is His covenant. (Revelation 11:19) Sixth, there is the testimony. (Revelation 15:5) All of these things had copies on Earth. God told Moses to make all these things according to the heavenly pattern He was going to show him. (Exodus 25:9, 40) Therefore, there were copies of the things in the heavens. (Hebrews 8:5, Hebrews 9:23) In other words, the temple, the tabernacle, the ark, and the two tablets of stone were mere copies of the true ones in heaven. (Hebrews 9:24)

The Testimony

The testimony proves the existence of the law before Mount Sinai. God told Moses to put the mercy seat on the ark, and in the ark to put the testimony, which God would give him. (Exodus 25:21) When God finished speaking with Moses upon Sinai, He gave Moses the two tablets of the testimony, tablets of stone, written by the finger of God. (Exodus 31:18) Then Moses turned and went down from the mountain with the two tablets in his hand, tablets written on both sides, written on one side and the other. Furthermore, these tablets were God’s work, and the writing was His writing engraved on the tablets. (Exodus 32:15-16) Later, as Moses came near the camp he saw the calf and the dancing. Therefore, Moses’ anger burned, and he threw the tablets from his hands and shattered them at the foot of the mountain. (Exodus 32:19)

His Covenant

God’s Covenant proves the existence of the law before Mount Sinai. The ark of His covenant has been in the tabernacle of the Testimony in heaven since the beginning. (Revelation 11:19) God declared to Israel His covenant, that is, the 10 Commandments. He also wrote them on two stone tablets. (Deuteronomy 4:13) God also spoke the Commandments to Israel at Mount Sinai and He added no more. He also wrote them on two stone tablets and gave them to Moses. (Deuteronomy 5:22) Also in chapter 9, it says the Lord gave Moses the two stone tablets written by the finger of God, and on them were the Ten Commandments, which He spoke to them at the mountain from the midst of the fire on the day of the assembly. (Deuteronomy 9:10) In addition, God wrote on the tablets, like the former writing, the Commandments. (Deuteronomy 10:4)

The fall of Lucifer

The fall of Lucifer proves the existence of the law before Mount Sinai. From the very beginning, Lucifer’s evil nature is on display. Most people think the first sins committed in the bible were those of Adam and Eve. However, the first sins committed in the bible were those of Satan and his followers. Christ said to the Pharisees “You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” (John 8:44).

Lucifer broke most of the Ten Commandments of God, which were part of the law before Mount Sinai. He broke the First Commandment because he saw himself as the Lord (Thou shall have no other god’s before Me). He also broke the Second Commandment (he saw himself in the image of God). Furthermore, Lucifer broke the Fifth Commandment (Honor your Father and Mother); God is his creator (Father). And he broke the Sixth Commandment (he was a murderer). Lucifer also tried to steal God’s throne breaking the Eight Commandment. He also broke the Ninth Commandment (he is a liar). Last, of all he broke the Tenth Commandment (he coveted in his heart to rule Heaven.

Adam, Eve, and Cain

The punishment of Adam, Eve, and Cain proves the existence of the law before Mount Sinai. The Bible teaches that sin is the transgression of the law. (One John 3:4) So what law did Adam and Eve transgress? They broke the Law of God because God does not impute sin where there is no law. (Rom. 5:13) Adam and Eve placed knowledge in place of God, breaking the first Commandment. They also broke the tenth, for they coveted knowledge. After Adam and Eve sinned, Cain murdered his brother. It happened, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew (murdered) him. Then the LORD said unto Cain, where is Abel thy brother? So he said I know not: Am I my brother’s keeper? (Gen. 4:8). The sixth commandment says, “Thou shall not murder.” (Ex. 20:13)
